Ernie Starling, elder at South Main Church of Christ, serves up this answer to the question.

“In Proverbs 20:1, wine is a mocker. Strong drink is raging, and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.”

Alcohol clouds your mind and your judgment.

The miracle that Jesus performed at the wedding feast in Cana, the wine was grape juice and not intoxicating. Jesus would not do something to cause people to harm themselves. Those are the thoughts on alcohol.
