South Main Church of Christ welcomes all who wish to worship God and Jesus Christ through organized prayer, vocal music and teachings of the Bible.
Upon entering the building housing Christ’s church, you will be greeted by one of the leaders or members of the church. It could be an Elder, Deacon, or someone who happens to be the first person you meet. But you may be greeted in the parking lot, before ever reaching our front door. Our hearts and doors are always open to new visitors, and we welcome all.
Each service and Bible study prominently features vocal music. We don’t use instruments in our praise of Jesus Christ. Each pew features two sets of Bibles and Hymnals. We usually incorporate songs four times per Sunday service and at least twice during Bible study. All visitors and members are encouraged to sing.
Communion is shared later in the service. Every visitor is invited to share Communion. Members are expected to do so.
Each worship service features announcements toward the end, and an opportunity for anyone needing help of any kind to request it. We are open to providing prayer circles and fulfilling other requests from members and visitors.
Sunday, the Lord’s day, begins with Bible Study at 9:45 a.m., immediately followed by Worship Service at 10:30 a.m.
Bible Study is usually also Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m., lasting for approximately 45 minutes. Immediately afterward, we set aside time for conversation and fellowship in the lobby.
Our leader is Jesus Christ, and our governing document is the Holy Bible.
South Main Church of Christ is served by three Elders, who are currently Jim Lanning, Tom Sheppard and Ernie Starling. They can be reached by calling (740) 343-9034 and leaving a message. Someone from the church will receive the message right away and it will be returned as soon as possible.
We have fully embraced technology by adopting paperless hymnals in our worship, password-protected wifi on the property, and publishing audio and video recordings as often as possible as a means of keeping in touch. Our digital offerings are intended to be a source of inspiration derived from the Word as spoken from our auditorium microphones and can’t replace in-person worship. We highly encourage anyone seeking to participate in worship to come join us, partake in Communion and song, and praise Jesus.
